Our Car Smoke Odor Removal Process
Prep the Interior
Since Ozone can stick to everything we ask you to remove all personal belongings. If not, we'll remove them ourselves and set up the rest of the car to begin cleaning.
Detailing All Surfaces
We then clean all surfaces not only to make your car's insides look beautiful, but to remove and smoke smell remaining on the plastics and car parts. Any surface level stain should be cleaned at this point.
Vacuum and Tobacco Removing Chemical
We'll need to start with basics because leaving behind cigarette ashes can block any progress and leave a linger smell. After every corner and crevice is vacuumed, we pre-spray the vehicle with tobacco remover.
Ozone Treatment
After we check and have cleaned the car, we air out the vehicle for a bit. Ozone works better when the car is dry. Then we let the Ozone do it's thing and run depending on the smoke condition. 1-3 hours.
Shampooing and Extraction
Starting off with a headliner cleaning because smoke goes up. Then, a solution is mixed into our carpet extractor and we lightly spray every carpet surfaces (and remove stains) and extract.
Air Out and Final Checks
After the Ozone is done we replace the cabin air filter and let it air out for a bit. We let it return to safe enough levels to drive back home and let air our even longer. Final checks are to make sure it's clean!
Frequent Questions
1. Is smoke odor removal guaranteed?
Short answer, no, smoke odor is never 100% guaranteed. But to a put a number to it, we aim for 90% removal on a lightly smoked in car, and 85% on heavily smoked in car. Certain car parts may not be reachable but no matter what, we will do our best and you will notice.
2. How long will it take?
Smoke Odor Removal may take 7+ hours of labor. Time is lengthier because we're letting the Ozone doing it's job and letting it air out to safe conditions. However, the condition of the car may also make it take longer since it is a deep clean. We recommend to leave the car overnight, but we are able to accommodate a same day drop off and pick up if needed.
3 How does this process get rid of the smoke smell?
Ozone (O3) is a chemical that attacks odors at a molecular level. Oxidation occurs and it breaks down the smell of smoke odor and destroys it. After it airs out a bit, ozone safely converts back to breathable oxygen. A bit scientific, but you can look into more online!
4 How much does this cost?
Our cleaning is usually dependent on the car's condition and size. Our lowest price starts at $350 and it goes up based on any stains or if it's a larger car since ozone needs to work a bit longer to cover an entire vehicle. A new cabin air filter is not included but usually costs $15-20.
