What is paint correction?

Car paint correction is a process that involves restoring and rejuvenating the paintwork of a vehicle by removing surface imperfections such as swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, and other defects. We use various grades of abrasive polishes and polishing machines to remove a small amount of the clear coat, leveling the surface to a smooth, reflective finish.

How do you correct paint?

The process involves multiple stages:

  1. Inspection and Preparation: Assess the condition of the paint and thoroughly wash and decontaminate the surface to remove dirt, grime, and embedded contaminants.

  2. Claying: Use a clay bar to remove bonded contaminants, making the surface smooth and preparing it for correction.

  3. Polishing: This step usually requires different compounds and polishing pads to work on different levels of defects. The goal is to remove scratches and swirls by leveling out the clear coat, and it may involve multiple stages, from heavy cutting to fine polishing. Keep in mind, we cannot fix scratches that are deeper than the clear coat.

  4. Finishing: After the correction process, the paint is sealed with wax, ceramic coating, or a sealant to protect the newly corrected surface and enhance shine.

Paint correction is a skilled process, as improper technique or the wrong product can damage the paint instead of enhancing it. Our team has multiple certifications for paint correction and is ready to discuss your specific needs with you.
